Brohm Lake - Squamish, BC, Canada
A small 13 hectare lake with a 5 Km (3 mi.) loop trail exploring the shoreline of the lake, the dense forest and the surrounding bluffs. The mostly easy grade trail is well maintained and follows a gravel - earthy trail through the forest. Although, the trail does lead up-and-over some rock bluffs and requires high-stepping some tree roots.
The lake attracts families and adventure seekers who enjoy a good day of hiking, mountain biking, swimming, sightseeing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing. All groups who visit the area will enjoy the small picnic spots located around the lake, the swimming areas, the trails and the easy access boat launch for canoes and kayaks.
Nearby, around the Brohm Lake area, is another 11 Km (6.7 mi.) network of trails mainly used by mountain bikers and hearty hikers leading deeper into the 400 hectare forest consisting of mainly Lodgepole Pine and Douglas Fir. From some of the trails fantastic views open up of the Tantalus Mountain Range.
Hikers and mountain bikers will thoroughly enjoy the connecting interpretive trails wandering through the bluffs and forest. Experienced mountain bikers with a good knowledge of the Squamish area can continue biking deeper into the forest eventually connecting up to the Cat Lake, Alice Lake and Garibaldi Highlands hiking and biking trails. Now that is a ride!
Brohm Lake is very easy to access and locate on Hwy 99 therefore the lake is heavily fished. Although the lake is stocked, the opportunity to hook a fish can be challenging. The best reported time to fish for Rainbow trout and Cutthroat is in the spring.
Brohm Lake is a day use recreational site only. There is no overnight camping and the parking lot is gated after hours.
