Horseback Riding - The mountainous region of Sea to Sky Country is an environment that is ideal for sightseeing on horseback providing views of the valley below and exceptional forest scenery. Because of the network of streams, rivers and lakes flowing into the valley... many of the horse back trails lead to higher elevations wandering back down into low lying wetlands and river beds.
Some of the Whistler Village horseback riding companies provide tours exploring the local mountains leading to rivers and lakes like Green Lake, Cougar Lake and Showh Lake.
While some Whistler equestrian tours head up mountains and explore ghost towns making time to smell the roses and enjoy a packed lunch. There are other horse tours in the Whistler area which travel into the deep backcountry wilderness of Cougar Mountain exploring the many trails like the Ancient Cedars Forest Trail.
On the outskirts of Pemberton BC, just north of Whistler, are hectares of farmer fields and grazing livestock. So it is of no surprise that there are horseback riding tour operators in this part of the valley. The guided horseback riding tours in the area tend to explore the slopes of Mount Currie, the shores of Lillooet River or wander endlessly along portions of the Gold Rush Trail.
Many of the local horse touring companies in Sea to Sky Country have well trained horses and knowledgeable guides to ensure a good time while on horseback. All horse touring companies provide the safety equipment for short and long haul rides and the knowledge of the local trails. Some guiding companies even provide oilskin jackets so you can look country too.
It is prudent to prebook all horseback riding vacations prior to your arrival as horse riding tours are often limited in size and offer set departure times. Groups are encouraged to book well in advance so to ensure that a group that travels together rides together.
