Hiking & Backpacking - The hiking trails and gravel roads leading all explorers deep into the backcountry mountains and valleys, in and around, the communities of Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton are plentiful. There are trails wandering the edge of mountain peaks, dropping down into valleys filled with alpine lakes and trails exploring along the shores of crashing rivers ending at waterfalls.
The network of trails in the region vary in length from a few hours to weeks. Some trails require a high fitness level to complete while others are suitable for all ages and ability. Some are long haul backpacking adventures blazing kilometre after kilometre every day resting only at the available wilderness campsites or warming cabins along the route. These hikes take preparation and wilderness savvy. These hikes offer the extreme adventurer some incredible opportunities to explore remote regions, observe fantastic scenery and explore alongside the local wildlife.
The Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton villages are all relatively close to Garibaldi Park. A popular destination for long haul overnight backpacking trips and day hikes. Longer trips follow the Black Tusk and Singing Pass routes while some of the more traveled shorter hikes include the Cheakamus Lake Trail.
Then there are the other trails, the shorter walks and hikes, meandering through interpretive forests, entering flower gardens, bird estuaries and picnic parks. Some of the shorter hikes follow gravel paths while others follow paved routes. Some provide sitting benches and picnic tables.
The paved trails often act as a transportation route for bikers and hikers leading in and out of communities like the Valley Trail in Whistler. There are shorter routes leading to viewing platforms of wetlands, bogs like the Squamish Estuary Trails. In the area there are waterfall hikes also like Shannon Falls in Squamish and the Nairn Falls Trail near Pemberton, BC, Canada.
